Once there was a woodcutter. One day he went to the forest to cut wood. He chose a tree on the bank of a river and started cutting it. Suddenly his axe slipped from his hand. And it fell into the river. The woodcutter was very sad. The river was deep and the current was strong. “what  will I do now?”

Said the woodcutter. ”I’ve lost my axe. I cannot buy another.”He started crying.

Then he heard a voice behind him. ”don’t cry,” said the voice.

Then he heard a voice behind him.   don’t cry, ”said the voice.

The woodcutter turned round. He saw a handsome young man standing behind him.” I’m an angel, ”said the young man.” I’ll help you. I get your axe for you”

The angel jumped into the river. And soon he came up with an axe. It glittered in the sunshine. It was a golden axe.

“Is this your axe?” asked the angel.

“No, ”said the woodcutter.

The angel went down into the water again. This time he comes up with a silver axe. “Is this your axe ?” He asked.

“Yes, it is. Thank you very much.”

The angel was pleased with the honesty of the woodcutter

“ Please take all the axes, the gold, the silver, and the iron ones,” said the angel and advised, “Trees are very useful for all living creatures and they should be preserved. You are an honest and wise man. I hope, you will not cut trees in the future.”

The woodcutter promised the angel not to cut trees any longer and he started a new business.

Hindi translation of story ⇒ 01

एक लकड़हारा था| एक दिन वह जंगल में लकड़ी काटने गया| उसने नदी किनारे एक पेड़ को चुना, और उसे काटने लगा अचानक उसके हाथों से कुल्हाड़ी फिसल गई और नदी में जा गिरी| लकड़हारा दुखी हो गया नदी भी काफी गहरी थी और उसका बहाव भी तेज था| लकड़हारे ने कहा अब मैं क्या करूंगा? मैंने अपनी कुल्हाड़ी खो दी और मैं अब दूसरी नहीं खरीद सकता| इस तरह वह रोने लगा|

उसने अपने पीछे से एक आवाज सुनी मत रोओ| लकड़हारे ने पीछे मुड़कर देखा की एक सुंदर नौजवान व्यक्ति उसके पीछे खड़ा है|

उस व्यक्ति ने कहा मैं एक देवदूत हूं, मैं तुम्हारी सहायता करूंगा और मैं तुम्हारी कुल्हाड़ी वापस लाऊंगा| वह देवदूत नदी में कूदे और जल्दी ही कुल्हाड़ी लेकर ऊपर आए| वह कुल्हाड़ी सूर्य की रोशनी में चमकने लगी तब देवदूत ने लकड़हारे से पूछा| क्या यह तुम्हारी कुल्हाड़ी है? लकड़हारे ने जवाब दिया नहीं यह मेरी नहीं है|

देवदूत फिर से नदी के अंदर जाते हैं और इस बार एक चांदी की कुल्हाड़ी के साथ ऊपर आए| क्या यह तुम्हारी है? लकड़हारे ने फिर मना कर दिया, नहीं| देवदूत ने फिर से नदी में डुबकी लगाई और इस बार वे एक लोहे की कुल्हाड़ी लेकर ऊपर आए, और पूछा क्या यह है तुम्हारी कुल्हाड़ी? हां, यह है मेरी आपका बहुत-बहुत धन्यवाद! वह देवदूत उस लकड़हारे की इमानदारी देखकर बहुत ही प्रसन्न हुवे।

कृपया यह सभी सोने, चांदी, और लोहे की कुल्हाड़ी ले लो देवदूत ने कहा, और एक सलाह दी कि पेड़ हम सब जीवित प्राणियों के लिए बहुत ही उपयोगी और महत्वपूर्ण है।  यह सुरक्षित रहने चाहिए तुम एक ईमानदार और बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति हो| मैं आशा करता हूं कि भविष्य में तुम पेड़ों को नहीं काटोगे लकड़हारे ने उससे वादा किया कि अब वह कभी भी पेड़ों को नहीं काटेगा और उसने एक नया व्यापार शुरू करेगा|

translation story ⇒ 02

Once a young man was passing through a dense forest. He was in a hurry. Suddenly he heard a voice ”Brother! O brother! Listen to me.”

He turned and saw a lion caught in a big cage. He started walking away fast. the man was afraid of the lion. The lion called out to him again.

“Brother! Look at these golden bangles. If you set me free, I’ll give you these bangles.”

“But if I do so you will kill me,” said the young man.

No. I won’t. it’s a promise. Believe me.” Said the lion.

The young man looked at the golden bangles greedily. He thought, “If I get these bangles, I will be a rich man.” He went and opened the cage. The lion comes out, stretched its body, and said with a cunning smile “thank you, take these bangles and get ready to die. I am going to eat you.”

The young man was shocked. He reminded the lion of its promise. The lion said “see, I was in the cage for these days. Now I am very hungry.”

But I helped you in need,” the young man begged.

Then help me a little more indeed,” the lion urged.

Just then, the young man saw the old man passing through the forest. He called out to him “O! Chacha! Listen to me.”

The old man stopped and listened to the whole matter carefully. Then he said, “It Is amazing. I can’t believe your story. How can you be caught in a small cage? You are too big.”

“ but it is true.’ Said the lion.

“But How?” the old man insisted.

The lion walked into the cage saying “like this.”

Clang! The door of the cage was shut by the old man. The lion was surprised to find Himself tricked into the cage. The young man was greatly relieved. He thanked the old man. The old man patted his shoulder and said, Come on young man. Let’s go, But remember- Help only those who deserve.”

एक बार एक जवान लड़का एक घने जंगल से गुजर रहा था| वह बहुत ही जल्दी में था| अचानक उसने एक आवाज सुनी भाई ओ, भाई मेरी बात सुनो! उसने जब पलट कर देखा कि एक शेर बड़ी सी पिंजरे में बंद है| और वह तेज चलने लगा वह शेर से डर गया शेर ने फिर से कहा, भाई देखो यह सोने की चुड़िया अगर तुम मुझे आजाद कर देते हो तो मैं यह तुम्हें दे दूंगा।

लेकिन मैं ऐसा करूंगा तो तुम मुझे मार डोंगे उस जवान व्यक्ति ने ने कहा| नहीं मैं नहीं मारूगा मैं तुमसे वादा करता हूं| शेर ने कहा मुझ पर विश्वास करो| उस व्यक्ति ने उन सोने की चूड़ियों की तरफ लालची दृष्टि से देखा और सोचा कि अगर यह चूड़ियां मुझे मिल जाए तो मैं एक अमीर व्यक्ति बन जाऊंगा|

वह जाता है और पिंजरे को खोल देता है| और शेर बाहर आ जाता है वह (शेर) अपने शरीर को खुजाते हुए चालाकी से मुस्कुरा कर कहता है| आपका बहुत-बहुत धन्यवाद! यह लो सोने की चुड़िया, और मरने के लिए तैयार हो जाओ| मैं अब तुम्हें खाने वाला हूं| वह भोचक्का रह जाता है| उसने शेर को उसका किया हुआ वादा याद दिलाया, लेकिन शेर ने कहा कि मैं बहुत दिनों से इस पिंजरे में बंद हूं और अब मैं बहुत भूखा हूं|

जवान व्यक्ति गिड़गिड़ाने नहीं लगा और कहने लगा कि मैंने तुम्हारी बहुत जरूरत में सहायता की है| लेकिन शेर बहस करने लगा और कहा तो एक छोटी सी मदद और कर दो| तभी उस व्यक्ति ने जंगल में एक बूढ़े व्यक्ति को जाते हुए देखा| वह उसे बुलाने लगा औ चाचा, चाचा ओ, चाचा मेरी बात सुनो| बूढ़ा व्यक्ति रुका और पूरे मामले को ध्यान से सुना, और कहा यह तो एक काल्पनिक कहानी है| मैं तुम्हारी कहानी पर विश्वास नहीं कर सकता| तुम इतने बड़े हो और इस छोटे से पिंजरे में कैसे आ सकते हो|

लेकिन यही सत्य है, शेर ने कहा| पर कैसे ऐसा कैसे हो सकता है? शेर पिंजरे के अंदर जाता है, और कहा ऐसे!  तभी बूढ़े व्यक्ति के द्वारा पिंजरे का गेट बंद कर दिया जाता है| और शेर आश्चर्य में पड़ जाता है उसने उस बुजुर्ग व्यक्ति को धन्यवाद दिया| तब बूढ़े व्यक्ति ने उसकी पीठ थपथपाते हुए कहा| चलो, अब चलते हैं| लेकिन याद रखना मदद सिर्फ उसी की करो जो मदद के हकदार हो|
