Some Important rules Use of preposition for
1. For का use के लिए /के उद्देश्य से /के वास्ते /के कारण (Indicating cause, reason or purpose)के अर्थ में किया जाता है।
Example:-
- I read for pleasure.
- He works for money.
- Mohan got a prize for bravery.
2. For का use के बावजूद (In spite of )के अर्थ में किया जाता है।
Example:-
- I like him for all his fault.
- For all his wealth, he is unhappy.
3. For का use के लिहाज से /के नजरिये से (In view of )के अर्थ में किया जाता है।
Example:-
- She is rather tall for her age.
- The wages are poor for the work.
4. For का use के लिए /के पक्ष (Indicating personal benefit , In support of ,In favour of )के अर्थ में किया जाता है।
Example:-
- We’ll just wait for her.
- I will vote for you.
- We’re going out for breakfast.
- I apologize for my sister.
- I’m going for a walk.
5. For का use की अवधि तक, में, से की और (period of time, Indicating direction )के अर्थ में किया जाता है।
Example:-
- He is going away for a few days.
- I’ve waited at that station for five hours.
- He was going to like the clothes she bought for the trip.
- He had been taking care of her for nearly a year now.
6. For का use की और से, के समर्थन में (On be half of, In support of )के अर्थ में किया जाता है।
Example:-
- We should fight For the poor.
- I am for this proposal.
- It works for us.
7. For का use के बदले में (In exchange of something) के अर्थ में किया जाता है।
Example:-
- I paid five rupees for this pen.
- She exchanged this book for another.
- You’ve paid a dear price for this thing.
8. For के कुछ अन्य प्रयोग some other uses of for.
Example:-
- I bought this mobile for rupees 7500.
- Drinking is bad for health.
- He works For the new company.
