Some Important rules Use of preposition for

1. For का use के लिए /के उद्देश्य से /के वास्ते /के कारण (Indicating cause, reason or purpose)के अर्थ में किया जाता है।

Example:-

  1. I read for pleasure.
  2. He works for money.
  3. Mohan got a prize for bravery.

2. For का use के बावजूद (In spite of )के अर्थ में किया जाता है।

Example:-

  1. I like him for all his fault.
  2. For all his wealth, he is unhappy.

3. For का use के लिहाज से /के नजरिये से (In view of )के अर्थ में किया जाता है।

Example:-

  1. She is rather tall for her age.
  2. The wages are poor for the work.

4. For का use के लिए /के पक्ष (Indicating personal benefit , In support of ,In favour of )के अर्थ में किया जाता है।

Example:-

  1. We’ll just wait for her.
  2. I will vote for you.
  3. We’re going out for breakfast.
  4. I apologize for my sister.
  5. I’m going for a walk.

5. For का use की अवधि तक, में, से की और (period of time, Indicating direction )के अर्थ में किया जाता है।

Example:-

  1. He is going away for a few days.
  2. I’ve waited at that station for five hours.
  3. He was going to like the clothes she bought for the trip.
  4. He had been taking care of her for nearly a year now.

6. For का use की और से, के समर्थन में (On be half of, In support of )के अर्थ में किया जाता है।

Example:-

  1. We should fight For the poor.
  2. I am for this proposal.
  3. It works for us.

7. For का use के बदले में  (In exchange of something) के अर्थ में किया जाता है।

Example:-

  1. I paid five rupees for this pen.
  2. She exchanged this book for another.
  3. You’ve paid a dear price for this thing.

8. For के कुछ अन्य प्रयोग some other uses of for.

Example:-

  1. I bought this mobile for rupees 7500.
  2. Drinking is bad for health.
  3. He works For the new company.
  4. for me it is useless.
  5. this stair is too high for me to climb.
  6. It’s very easy for me.
