Hello friends, I’m Murli from, we are going to learn Conditional Sentences and their types with examples

Conditional sentences have two parts or clauses that give a condition in the dependent clause and a result in
the independent clause. The condition clause usually contains an if statement. There are several different
forms of conditional sentences that allow the writer to express various meanings using different tenses.

There are three types of conditional sentences.

1.   condition possible/Open condition( first Conditional ) Conditional Sentences Examples (if-clause at the end)

The first conditional uses the present tense in the if clause and the future tense in the result clause. This form is
used to talk about something that is a probable future result of a condition.

If + subject + V1/V5 + other words, subject + shall/will + V1 + other words.


subject + shall/will + V1 + other words, If + subject + V1/V5 + other words.


1.   If it rains, I shall not go out for a walk.

अगर बारिश होती है, तो में बहार नहीं जाऊंगा।

2 .  If you come to me, I shall give you this book

यदि तुम मेरे पास आओगे, तो मैं तुम्हें यह किताब दूंगा।

3.  If I don’t see you later, I won’t be able to say hello

अगर में आपसे बाद में नहीं मिलता, तो में आपसे नहीं बोल पाता।

4.  If I go to Delhi, I shall meet my brother.

अगर /यदि में दिल्ली जाऊंगा, तो अपने भाई से मिलूंगा।

5.  If you go to Mumbai, you will meet Amitabh there.

यदि तुम मुंबई जाओगे, तो वंहा आपकी मुलाकात अमिताभ से होगी।

6.  If you have a headache you take a rest.

अगर आपको सर दर्द हे, तो आराम करो।

7.  If it rains today, I shall remain at home.

यदि आज बारिश होगी, तो मैं घर पर ही रहूंगा।

8.  If Ram runs fast, he will win the race.

यदि राम तेज दौड़ेगा, तो वह दौड़ जीतेगा।

9.  If you see Praveen, send him at once.

यदि तुम्हे प्रवीण मिले, तो उसे तुरंत भेज दो।

10.  If he is ill, he must consult a doctor.

यदि वह बीमार है, तो उसे किसी डॉक्टर को जरूर दिखाना चाहिए।

11.  If you run fast, you may catch the train.

अगर तुम तेज दोड़ो, तो ट्रैन पकड़ सकते हो।

12.  If you go to Agar, where will you stay?

अगर तुम आगर जाओगे, तो कहा रुकोगे ?

13.  If you heat iron, it expands.

यदि आप लोहे को गर्म करते है, तो वह फैलता है।

14.  If you heat ice, it turned to water.

यदि बर्फ को गर्म किया जाये, तो वह पानी बन जायेगा।

2.  Improbable condition/Unfulfilled condition (SECOND CONDITIONAL)

The second conditional uses the past tense in the if-clause and a modal and base verb in the result clause. This
form is used to talk about a hypothetical situation that cannot happen or is unlikely to happen.

If + subject + verb ( second form ) + other words, subject + would + verb ( first form ) + other words.


subject + would + verb ( first form ) + other words, If + subject + verb ( second form ) + other words.


1.  If I had a lot of money, I would buy a large vacation home.

अगर मेरे पास बहुत सारे पैसे होते, तो में एक बड़ा मकान खरीदता।

2.  If a ghost appeared here all would flee away.

यदि यहाँ भुत आ जाये, तो तुम सब भाग जाओ।

3.  If anybody gave you a lot of money, what would you do with that?

यदि कोई तुम्हे बहुत सारा पैसा दे तो, तुम उसका क्या करोगे।

4.  If the river overflowed, what would happen.

अगर नदी में बाद आ जाये, तो क्या होगा

5.  If he came here, he meet me.

यदि वह यहां आता, तो मुझसे मिलता।

6.  If you went to Delhi, you would see the red fort.

यदि आप दिल्ली जाते, तो लाल किला देखते।

7.  If I study English, I would pass the exam.

यदि मैं अंग्रेजी पढ़ा होता, तो परीक्षा पास करता।

8.  If she invited me, I would come.

अगर वह मुझे बुलाती, तो मैं आता।

9.  If I were a bird, I would fly to you.

यदि में एक पंक्षी होता, तो में आपके पास उड़ आता

10.  If I had a degree, I could get a job easily.

यदि मेरे पास डिग्री होती, तो मुझे जॉब आसानी से मिल जाती।

11.  If you played, we would win the match.

अगर आप खेलते, तो हमलोग मैच जीतते।

12.  If I went to Delhi, I would meet my friends

अगर मैं दिल्ली जाता, तो अपने दोस्तों से मिलता।

13.  If my father came, I should ask for money.

यदि मेरे पिताजी आये, तो में उनसे पैसे मांगूंगा।

14.  If I were a poet, I would write an epic.

यदि में एक कवि होता, तो में एक महाकाव्य लिखता।

Conditional Sentences

3.   condition Impossible to fulfill too late in the past(THIRD CONDITIONAL)

The third conditional uses the past perfect in the if-clause and a modal and present perfect in the result clause.
This form is used to talk about a hypothetical situation in the past that did not happen – typically with an
the outcome that did not happen and is perhaps the opposite of what did happen.

If + subject + had + verb ( third form )+ other words, subject + would + have + verb ( third form ) + Other words.


subject + would + have + verb ( third form ) + other words, If + subject + had + verb ( third form ) + other words.


1.  If he had visited Agra, he would have seen the Taj Mahal.

यदि वह आगरा गया होता, तो उसने ताज महल देखा होता।

2.  If you have worked hard, you should have passed the examination.

यदि आपने कठिन परिश्रम किया होता, तो आप परीक्षा में पास हो गए होते।

3.  If I had Studied there, I would have passed.

यदि मैं वहां पढ़ता, तो मैं पास किया होता।

4.  If it had rained on Monday, I would not have gone to school.

यदि सोमवार को बारिश होता तो, तो मैं स्कूल नहीं जाता।

5.  If I had known about you, I would never have become your friend.

अगर मुझे तुम्हारे बारे में पता होता, तो मैं तुम्हारा मित्र कभी नहीं बनता।

6.  If the driver had been careful, the accident would not have happened.

यदि ड्राइवर सावधान होता ,तो दुर्घटना नहीं होती।

7.  If it had rained last week, the plants would not have died.

अगर पिछले हफ्ते बारिश हुवी होती, तो पौधे नहीं सूखते।

8.  If I had finished college, I would have become a doctor.

यदि में कॉलेज पूरा कर लेता, तो में डॉक्टर बन जाता।

9.  If you were at that time, riots would not have started.

अगर आप उस समय होते, तो दंगे शुरू नहीं होते।

10.  If I had reached home, I would have called you

अगर मैं घर पहुंच गया होता, तो मैं तुमको फोन करता।

11.  If you had not stopped having a cup of coffee, you would not have missed the train.

अगर आप एक कप कॉफ़ी पीने के लिए नहीं रुकते, तो आपकी ट्रैन नहीं छूटती।

12.  If my brother had come, he would have helped me.

अगर मेरा भाई आता, तो मेरी मदद करता।
