Some important Rules of use of the preposition of ‘To’

Rule 1.  To का प्रयोग ‘की और’ के अर्थ में लक्ष्य (destination) को बताने के लिए किया जाता है।

Example :-

1. He was going to Mahankal Temple. वह महांकाल मंदिर जा रहा था।
2. She was going to College. वह कॉलेज जा रही थी।

Rule 2. To का प्रयोग ‘तक’ के अर्थ में  Time और place को Express करने के लिए किया जाता है।

Example:-

1. She Waited for me from morning to evening.
2. The postman delivers the letters from door to door.
3. This road goes to the station.

Rule 3. To का प्रयोग इस प्रकार भी किया जाता है।

Verbs	Preposition	place
GO	TO	A place
Get
Come
Send somebody
Send something

Example:-

1. She was going to College. वह कॉलेज जा रही थी।
2. The headmaster has not come to school.

Rule 4. To का प्रयोग ‘पहले’ के अर्थ में time (समय)के भाव को अभिव्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता है।

Example:–

1. It is a quarter to ten.
2. It is 10 minutes to ten.

Rule 5. To का प्रयोग ‘पर’के अर्थ में किया जाता है।

Example:-

1. He was invited to tea.
2. Her mother invited me to dinner.

Rule 6.  To का प्रयोग ‘के प्रति’ के अर्थ में किया जाता है।

Example:-

1. He must be careful to his duty.
2. Show Affection to your neighbors.
3. We should be kind to animals.

 

Rule 7. To का प्रयोग तुलना (comperissin ) के भाव को अभिव्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता है।

Example:-

1. He won by six-goal to three.
2. She was elder to all his friends.

Rule 8. To का प्रयोग के लिए  के अर्थ में Intention  (इरादा), Purpose (उद्देश्य), Restriction (प्रतिबन्ध ) के भाव को अभिव्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता है।

Example:-

1. my uncle came to see me.
2. He is to write a letter.
3. He was to play cricket.
